先日体験した藍の生葉染め。

生葉染めは、動物性の繊維が染まりよいとのことで

シルクがよく使われます。

仕上がりがどうなるのか、

不安と期待でいっぱい。




I had an experience with fresh leaves indigo dyeing on the other day

Animal fiber, such as silk and wool, is suitable for this type of dyeing

While dyeing, I was wondering what's going to be the end result

with both anxious and excited feeling.

他の生徒さんと比べて、

色の薄い仕上がりとなりました。

がっかり～

前の日から、とっても楽しみにしていたので、

残念な気持ちで家に帰ったのです・・・



Contrary to my expectations

my scarf is  paler blue than the other students’

disappointing!

I went back home with sagging shoulders

でも、

自宅で見てみると、

なかなか、ミントブルーが爽やかで

この蒸し暑い季節に、いい感じじゃありませんか！！

テンション　アップ‼！

だから、

近所の海岸で見つけた、大きな巻貝と

コラボしてみました。

爽やかさが、伝わればいいな。

I took a look at my scarf at home again

I realized

the color was quite nicer cool mint-blue than I had thought.

WOW!

so

I took a photo of my scarf with a sea shell

My first Aizome: Handkerchief★Ganki-shibori 初めての作品・ハンカチ★雁木絞り

My first indigo dyeing work is

on a handkerchief.

"Gangi-shibori" is the technique I used on it.

"Gangi" means a flock of geese flying in formation

and

"shibori" is a dyeing techique.

初めての藍染作品はハンカチです。

「雁木絞り」という技法です。

雁木とは、雁が列を作って飛んでいる様子のこと。

My first aizome work

私の最初の藍染作品

T-shirt★Mokume shibori Tシャツ★木目絞り

 ★T-shirt for my husband★

Technique: 

Mokume shibori(wood-grain), ai-gaeshi

Mokume shibori :parallel lines of stitching

Ai-gaeshi :returned to the indigo to yield rich shades of indigo blue

藍返しは、より深い藍色を加えるためさらに染める方法

I drew vertical lines in shibori parts on the T-thirt

and worked hard to stitch.

For mokume-shibori, each stitch doesn't have to be the same length exactly.

Some are long stitches and some are short, no problem!

Nobody knows what is going to emerge on the T-shirt.

concerning and hoping in my mind・・・

Tシャツに縦線をひき、ひたすらザクザク縫いました。

木目絞りは、針目が等間隔でなくてもいいんです。

長いのがあっても、短いのがあっても　大丈夫。

Tシャツにどんな模様がでてくるのか、だれもわからない。

うまくいくかな～失敗するかな～

This was incredibly labor and time intensive‼

糸を慎重にきつく引っ張り絞りました。

この作業が一番大変でした～

Using a blender is a common way to pulverize the leaves, 

but he showed us an old style using a millstone this time.

（This tool is used to make rice cake)

葉をすりつぶすので、ミキサーを使うのが一般的ですが、

今回先生は昔の方法で臼を使いました。

Color is changing from green to dark

色がどんどん変わってますね

浸して、空気にさらしてを数回繰り返して

My hometown

Tokushima is

famous for AWA dancing.

During Bon vacation (Aug.12-15)）

this dancing festival is held at several locations in Tokushima.

Men and women, old and young enjoy dancing 

 with full of enthusiasm.

There is a lyrics to this dance;

"Odoru Aho ni  Miru Aho, Onaji Ahonara Odoranya Son Son"

It means

Fool dancers and Fool audiece

We are the same fools, so why don't we dance!?

Male dancers are dynamic,

on the other hand female dancers are elegant and beautiful.　

Elderly people get rejuvenated,

children are full of energy

I can't wait for this summer coming!

私のふるさと、徳島は阿波踊りで有名です。

お盆になると、（8月12日～15日）　老若男女とわず、

踊る阿呆に見る阿呆、同じ阿保なら、踊らにゃそんそん と、

お囃子で町が盛り上がります。

男踊りは　ダイナミックで力強く

その一方で、女踊りは　エレガントです。

年配の人たちは、若々しく

子供たちは元気いっぱい！



今年の夏が、待ちきれない！

教室に入ると、

体が　藍の香りにつつまれる。

ほっ・・


気持ちが落ち着いてきます。


Every time I step into "Hon Aizome Yano Kojo",

the scent of indigo is wafting in the air. 

It makes me relaxed.

目を閉じて、

藍の香りを、体に入れて、そして出して・・・

体の隅々まで

藍の香りが　ゆきわたります。


I close my eyes,

inhale and exhale it deeply.

The scent penetrates every part of my body.





喜びと幸せにつつまれた香り、

その香りのもとである藍は、

愛情込めて育まれ

幸せいっぱい、喜びにあふれている


The scent with joy and happiness

is originated from indigo plant

which is brought up with lots of love.

染め液に手を入れる.。
生暖かい

まったりとした感触。

あ～いい気持ち～

自然なものだけを使っているので、

素手でも安心なのです。


I dip my hands into the dye.

It is warm and has rich texture.

A little slimy.

Feeling so good～.

No chemical ingredients are added to this liquid 

therefore it is safe with bare hands.






藍は、染めるだけでなく、

いろいろな効果があります。

その一つが、保湿効果。

手は、しっとりしてきます。

それがだいたい1か月ぐらい続くんですよ。



Indigo not only dyes fabric 

but also has several beneficial effects.

One is moisturizing action.

My hands become smooh and soft.

This lasts about one month.


  


問題があるとすれば、

手が、藍色になってしまうことかな。

そんな幽霊のような手をみたら、

人はびっくりして、あなたに言うかも。

「汚いなぁ！、手を洗ってきなさい！」って。



There is only one problem.

Hands are dyed indigo blue 

so people who see your dirty and ghostly pale hands 

would be surprised and say 

"How dirty! Wash them!"
