冷たい藍茶・はちみつ入り Iced Indigo Tea with honey

今週木曜日早朝に

横浜につきました。

自宅に帰る前に、

家の近くのセブンで、出勤前の主人と待ち合わせ。

コーヒーを一緒に飲みました。

7時過ぎでしたが、

夏休みなので、子供たちが走り回っていました。

元気ですね～。

I arrived at Yokohama this Thursday morning.

Before going back to my apartment,

I met with my husband at the 7-11 store near our apartment

to take coffee together.

It was before 7 a.m. but

kids were already playing outside.

Kids are very active!

家に帰ると、

散らかってはないのですが、

洗濯もの、全然自分でしてません・・・

10日分・・。

部屋は綺麗？な感じですが、
掃除はしなくちゃね～という状態でした。

When I entered my apartment, 

I found that the rooms were not messy.

My husband hadn't washed his clothes at all for 10 days.

The rooms appeared to be clean, but
they definitely needed to be cleaned.

午後からは、

フォトスタイリングの課題提出の準備。

ブレイクタイムに、

藍の乾燥葉をつかってアイスティーを作りました。

昼間は冷房を使っていないので、

さすがに暑くて、冷たいものが欲しいんです。

「生活の木」で買った、マヌカハニーを入れました。

藍の乾燥葉、活用してみたい、と思うことが

たくさんあるので、

今年もたくさん、乾燥葉を作るつもり～！

In the afternoon, I did my photo styling assignment.
It was too hot to stay inside without air conditioning、
so  I made iced indigo tea using dried indigo leaves,
and added one spoonful manuka houney.
I still have lots of dried indigo leaves, and want to use them
for cooking and drinking.
This year, I'll make dried indigo leaves, too.

とくしま藍の日 Tokushima Indigo Day

7月24日は、

徳島県が定めた

「とくしま藍の日」でした。

2020年東京オリンピックの公式エンブレムに

藍色が採用さたので、

徳島県がオリンピック開会日の7月24日を

「とくしま藍の日」に決めたのです。世間一般の人々が

藍に注目する日となるのですから、

嬉しいな～。

July 24th is "Tokushima Indigo Day"

 established by Tokushima prefecture
because it produces the top quality and quantity of indigo dyeing stuff,
and the color of indigo blue is used for the emblem of the Tokyo Olympics.
  The date is related to the opening day.  

I appreciate that more people will be able to get more attention
about indigo.

この日の午後は

徳島グランヴィリオホテルで

記念フォーラムがありました。
お話しされたのは、

東京五輪・パラリンピックの公式エンブレムを作成された

デザイナーの野老朝雄氏、

藍師佐藤好阿昭氏、

米国からローランド・リケッツ氏、

京都の染色家青木正明氏
どのお話も、素晴らしかったです。
特にリケッツ氏の、藍染は手間がかかるけれど、
環境にやさしい、という言葉が印象に残りました。

On the 24th,
I had a chance to attend a forum about indigo at

Tokushima Grandvryo Hotel.

The speakers were

Mr. Asao Tokoro who was the designer 

of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic logo. 

Mr. Yoshiaki Sato who is an indigo producer.

Mr. Roland Ricketts who is an artist from the US.

Mr. Masaaki Aoki who is a dyer in Kyoto.
They gave us great presentations.
Mr. Ricketts said ”indigo dyeing is environmentally friendly”,
which was very impressive words to me.

藍染めの日 Day for indigo dyeig

先週の土曜日は、

藍染めの日💘でした。

教室に行くと、

体験に来られた方が一名。

愛媛からでした。

2年前に藍染にであって、

ずっと本物の藍染をしたかったそうです。

他の生徒さんは、

今度の9月にあるクラフト展に出品する

作品作りをしていました。

私はデザインが終わったばかり。

間に合うかな💨💨💨。

Last Saturday was the day for dyeing

at my teacher's studio.

When I arrived there,

there was a visitor from Ehime prefecture.

She told me that

she had wanted to know about authentic indigo dyeing

since she encountered it a few years ago.

Other students were working on their shibori wall hangings
 for the next exhibition

coming in September.

I'm also going to display my work

at the exhibition,

but so far

I've just finsihed designing.

I'm very behind.

別の日ですが, 教室のアトリエで
矢野藍秀師が染めをしていました。
ここで染める人はみな
同じ染め液で染めることが出来ます💖💖💖。

The students and visitors
can dye fabric using the same indigo vats.

藍の生葉染め Fresh Leaf Indigo Dyeing

昨日の午後は

藍の葉を使った、

生葉染めをしました。
藍の葉が収穫できる時期限定の

お楽しみです💘💘

I dyed a silk stole using fresh-leaf indigo leaves
yesterday afternoon.
It is a summer only activity,
so I was looking forward to doing this.

まず、

ガーデンにある藍の葉を集めました。

今年最初の収穫です🍃🍃🍃。

I gathered a lot of fresh leaves from my  garden.
This was the first cultivation this year.

次は染め液を作り。

収穫した葉を水とともにブレンダーにかけて、
バケツに置いた洗濯ネットの中にいれます。
かすはネットの中、液はバケツに出てきます。

The first step was making  a vat of indigo.
First, I added the leaves and water to a blender,
and mixed it well.
Then, I poured the mixture into a laundry net
placed in a vat,
so only liquid came out of the net,
which was a vat of indigo.

染め液は長く持たないので、
（酸化してしまうから）
素早く

布を染め液につける、

しぼる、

水の中ですすぐ
（酸化で色がつく）、を

5回行いました💦💦💨。

2分ぐらいの間隔かな～。
明るいターコイズブルーにしあがりました。
レーヨンが入っているストールなので、
その部分の色が少し違って、いい感じです💓。


The vat doesn't last long,
(otherwise it gets oxidized) so
quickly, I repeated to soak in the vat,
then I wrung it, and then rinsed it in water 5 times
(oxidization in water makes bright indigo blue).
I did this process every two minutes.
My stole became a beautiful turquoise color.
The stole made from silk and rayon.
The pars of rayon dyed lighter,
so the shades of the color are beautiful.

「藍のけしき」の箱 A box of "Indigo Views"

7月21日に

阿波藍アート「藍のけしき」の

専用箱が主催する徳島県から届きましたよ～📦。

I received a box from
Tokushima which is hosting

Awa Indigo Art "Indigo Views."
It is to keep the cloth
which I dyed with indigo blue a week ago.

箱には、

光を取り入れる

マルと四角の穴があって、

好きなほうを選んで染めた布を保存するんですって。

私は、丸を選チョイス。

There are circle and square shaped holes on the box
to get light.

Instructions say that participants can choose either one they like,

and keep the indigo dyed cloth in it.

I chose  the circle hole.

夕方セットしたので、

光の具合が、ちょっとノスタルジックな感じ🌛🌛🌛。

I set up the box toward evening,

so my photos shows a nostalgic taste.

ところで、

参加者の総数は、定員を大きく超える400名以上。

海外からも100名を超えているそうで～
300人の予定だったのにね。

わくわくです👀！

By the way,

the total number of the participants are more than 400 

including more than 100 from abroad!
It was supposed to be 300.

I'm so excited for this huge project.

これから、年末まで

この布と同じ生活空間ですごします💓。

From now until the end of this year,

I will live with this indigo dyed cloth.

パラソル染めに、本藍染矢野工場へ

昨日は、

藍染めの日でした。

本藍染矢野工場へ行くと、

愛媛県からの体験に来られた方が1名。

何年か前に藍染めの魅力に出会い

もっと知りたいと思うようになったそうです💖。

Yesterday was the day for dyeing 

at Hon Aizome Yano Kojo

When I arrived there,

there was a visitor from Ehime prefecture.

She told me that she had been wanted to know about
authentic indigo dyeing
since she had encountered with it a few years ago.

また、

他の生徒さんたちは、

9月にある「現代クラフト展」に出品する

作品作りをされていました。

あ～💦

私は、やっとデザインが決まったところなんです・・💧

Other students were working on their own shibori,
for the next exhibition 

coming in September.

I'm also going to display my work at the exhibition,
but so far
I've just finished designing.
I'm very behind.

私たちが染めをしているそばでは、

「藍建て」の勉強会が行われていました💕。

他県からの参加者たちは、

先生の話を聞きながら、

熱心にメモをとっていました📝。

私も、いつかは参加して

自身の工房を持ちたいな～💓💓💓

Beside of us, the workshop about making indigo dying liquid 

was being held.
Mr. Ranyu Yano was an instructor for it,
and he was explaining about taking care of indigo dye liquid.

The students who were from other prefectures
were taking a note enthusiastically.

Someday, I want to take the workshop
and open my own workshop.

昨日の染めは、

お友達への日傘。

今日で、染めは終わりです😊。

I dyed an umbrella cover for my friend again, and
today is the final dye for it.

BUAISOU

先月末に

「藍のけしき」
参加OKのメールが届きました。
そして
今月より
300名ボランティアによる
プロジェクトがスタートしました。

I got a mail that
I was able to participate in a project
called "Indigo View" at the end of last month.
The event has just started preparation with
300 volunteers.💘💘




「藍のけしき」は、
徳島県が主催し、
アメリカ在住の　ローランドリケッツ氏が監修。
阿波藍をテーマとした大型アート作品を
300名のボランティアが
5か月間かけて藍染めした布とともにすごし、
その後、その布を使って
作品を作るという
壮大なプロジェクトです。💘💘

Tokushima prefecture hosts the project,
and it is developed and led by
Mr. Rowland Ricketts.
Each of 300 participants is going to live with
a cloth dyed with indigo.
Five months later, each cloth will be collected to create artwork.
The project is a huge scale.



先週の日曜日に、
ボランティアの一人として、布を染めるために
BUAISOUに

行ってきました。💘
4人のメンバーが　藍師、染め師として
日本だけでなく、世界で活躍しているグルーブなんです。

As one of the volunteers,
I went to BUAISOU to dye a cloth last Sunday.
It consists of four indigo producers and also dyers,
They are world-renowned artists.



参加者は、10名ぐらいだったかな～
染める前に、
BUAISOUで作る藍のお話しを
藍のお茶🍵を
いただきながら聞きました。
藍甕は３つあり、
濃い、中くらい，薄いブルーの3種より
好みの色を選びました。
計3回　液に浸す、酸化させるを
繰り返して染めました。
私は、濃いブルーをチョイス💙。

There were about 10 participants at BUAISOU.
Before dyeing,
we had a lecture about indigo dyeing of BUAISOU
with drinking iced indigo tea.
There were three indigo vats:
which are darkest blue, medium, and light blue.
I chose the darkest blue to dye.

Following the direction of the dyer,
we dipped a cloth in the vat,
squeezed it,
spread it in the air to get oxidized.
We repeated the process  three times.

最後に
吉野川側にある藍畑見学もしま
した。
品種は、
赤茎小千本と呼ばれるものなんですって。

After dyeing
we visited indigo farms
near the Yoshino river.
BUAISOU grows
indigo plant called AKAKUKIKOSENBON there.

藍の国・徳島へ Indigo Blue Country, Tokushima

徳島へ帰省してます。

南国とくしまですが、
横浜よりも、涼しい感じがする。

土や緑に囲まれているからかな？

I've already back to my hometown, Tokushima.
It is located farther south part in Japan than Yokoyama,
but
I feel it is a little cooler than there.
I guess it is because
my parents' house is surrounded by open fields and greenery.

さて、

徳島に帰って

気分はローラーコースター⤴⤵⤴⤵

By the way,
I have been feeling up and down like a roller coaster
since I came back here.

ショックだったのは、

帰省途中で、立ち寄った娘のいる大阪のアパートに

日傘の布地を置き忘れてしまったこと。

すぐに、
娘に頼んで、送ってもらいましたが…。
情けないです・・
😱😱😱

The worst incident was to have left the most important fabric
in my daughters' apartment.
I was not able to dye without it.
I've already asked my daughter to send it here.
I was upset with myself.

ときめいた事は、

やはり、

徳島は「藍の国」なんだぁ～と、

改めて実感した事。
💖💖💖💖
この話は、また後日・・

This time when I came back here,
I realized that Tokushima was an indigo blue country once again,
which made me happy.
I'll talk about it later.

Unfortunately, 

I have to make one again.

I tried to assemble the fabric to the frame,

and

I couldn't believe my eyes!👀👀👀

布が縮んでる！？！？！？

😱😱😱😱

Did the fabric shrink?

染めたり、洗ったりで

布が縮んだに違いありません。

それを考えて裁断しなくてはいけなかったんです！

It must have shrunk during washing and dyeing.

I should have cut the fabric thinking about the shrinkage.

なので、

日傘、作ってます。

So,

I'm making an parasol again.

Indigo Bread 藍パン

普段は週に2回パンを焼いてます。🍞

あ、ほんとはホームベーカリーが焼いてくれるので、

私は材料を放り込むだけ😀。

で、2時間後に

ほかほかのパンが出来上がります💖。

トリセツについていたレシピは

面白くないので😑、

いろんなハーブをいれて、

楽しんでいます💗💗💗
ならば・・・

I usually bake bread by myself twice a week.

Actually, my bread making machine bakes the bread, 

so I just add required ingredients in it.  

Two hours later, 

freshly baked bread is ready.

The recipe in the instruction of the machine

 is boring,

so I like adding some herbs 

to enjoy the different results.
SO,

昨日は、ドライにした藍の乾燥葉を

入れてみました。😊

藍は体にいいので、

その効能を効果的に使う方法を

ずっと考えてました。

パンを焼くことも

一つの方法かな？

今後の食生活に藍を取り入れて、

その効能が体にいい影響を与えてくれるといいな😄。

Yesterday I used dried indigo leaves 

as an ingredient to bake bread.

Since I had been thinking about 

how I used them effectively

because of their health benefits, 

I think baking bread is one of the ways 

I can incorporate them into my diet into the future.

I hope some benefits of indigo plants will work on me😋.

近所に藍畑が！ Indigo Farm near my apartment

植物の藍がアブラムシの繁殖で

ダメになってしまいました。😱

困ったのは、

藍がないと、藍の生葉染めができないということ。

そして、

生葉染めをテーマにしていた

フォトスタイリング7月の課題が提出ができないということ😢。


My indigo plants got aphids attacks and died.
Without indigo plants,
I was not able to dye with fresh indigo leaves.
Moreover,
I was not able to do my photo styling assignment
since I had decided my topic which was about fresh indigo dyeing.

とってもショック。

生葉染めには結構な量の藍の葉っぱが必要なので

もう無理😭😭。

でも、

フォトスタイリングの課題提出は、どうしよう。

藍の話題にしたい。
変えたくない！

藍をもっと、いろんな人に知ってもらいたいので、

藍の魅力を最大限引き出せる

写真を撮ることができるようにしたいんです！！！

I was shocked because
I had to give up to dye using indigo fresh leaves
since it required a large amount of them.

But, what about  my assignment in July?!?!
I didn't want to change my topic.
I wanted to share how I enjoyed my life with indigo with people
and
let them know the advantage of indigo plants.

ホームセンターでは、

野菜やハーブの苗や種は売られていても🌼、

藍は見かけたことないですよね～

どうしてなんでしょうね？？？

ネットで検索すると、

藍を育てている人はみつかるものの、

コンタクトのしようがない・・・

でも、ネットで探し続けた。

There are a lots of kinds of seeds and plants
at any hardware stores,but
I've never seen indigo seeds or plants.
Why?

I tried to find information through the internet,
and I found some people growing indigo plants
in their yard, but I didn't know how to contact them,
and they lived far from here.

But, I tried and tried to find an useful information.

そうしたら、

あったんです！

家の近所で、

藍畑がある、という情報を💖💖

At last,
I came across a good information, which
there was a indigo plants farm
NEAR my apartment.
I was very surprised!

そして、

そこに行ってみたんです！！

そうしたら、

本当に、藍畑があったんです！！👀👀👀

どうする私!!!

WOW!

Soon I went to there,
There was an indigo field.
The information was true!
So "what should I do?"


近づくと

おじさんが

畑の世話をしていました。

正直に

事情をはなして、

「藍がほしいんです！、分けてください！！」

I approached to the farm, and
there was a man taking care of the farm.
I said hello and introduced myself to him,
then I desperately asked him👾
to give me some indigo plants.

そうしたらですね、

二株、分けてくれたんです！！

信じられない～💖

信じられないです！

優しい気持ちに、

嬉しくって、嬉しくって

泣きそうでした!😂😂😂

So,
he gave two indigo plants to me.
I couldn't believe it!
I almost cried for his kindness.
I expressed my gratitude to him.

元気な株を分けてくれて、

それから、すぐに、

課題提出の撮影に取り掛かりました。
そして、

提出を終える事が出来ました。

As soon as I arrived at my apartment,
I got to work for the assignment, and
finished it.

Cocktail Tincture Indigo カクテルティンクチャー・インディゴ

数か月前に

インディゴ・ティンクチャーを作りました💓。

ティンクチャーは、

ハーブなどをアルコール🍸につけ込むことで

その有効成分を抽出する事です。

乾燥した藍の葉を

ジンにつけ込みました。

そして、

ローション、ルームスプレー、

その他いろいろ

作る計画があったのですが・・・
🌸🌸🌸

I made indigo tincutre several months ago.

A tincture is a concentrated alcohol infusion, 

and

herbs are usually put into it.  

I put dried indigo leaves 

in a bottle of gin.

I was planning to use it for

making skin lotion, room spray, 

and other things.

それでも、

まだまだたくさん余るので💧

どうしようかな～

と思っていたら、

これでカクテルつくったらいいんじゃないかな～？！

なんて、思いついちゃいました。

ジンは、ボンベイサファイア💎💎💎を使いました。

グラスに　少量・・かな？の

インディゴ・ティンクチャー、水、氷を

グラスに入れれば、出来上がり。

ボンベイサファイアのお陰か

美味しい～💖。

水で薄めたので、

藍の乾燥葉を使ったお茶よりも

飲みやすい。

このインディゴカクテル、

生活に取り入れていこうかな。

I have a large amount of indigo tincture, and

I was wondering what to do with it.

Then

an idea came up in my mind suddenly yesterday,

and I decided to make 

a cocktail using it.

I used Bombay Sapphire💎💎💎.

I just poured a small amount of the tincture

with ice cubes and water 

in a glass.

The taste was good because of the good quality of gin👌.

It didn't strong taste like dried indigo leaves tea🍵

because 

It was diluted with water.

I name it the indigo cocktail.

I think I can incorporate it into my diet.

横浜の蓼藍が・・・ my indigo plants in Yokohama

先週金曜日、
横浜に戻ってきました。
真っ先に、
2階のベランダにある「蓼藍」を見に・・・💨💨💨

出発前は生き生きと葉が芽吹いていました。
どうなってるかな～💖💖💖
生葉染めもするつもりなので、
大きくなっているのを期待してました。

Last Friday, I came back home here Yokohama.
As soon as I arrived at my apartment,
I went to the balcony to see my indigo plant.
When I left here about two weeks ago,
they were fine and had lots of leaves.
I expected they had been growing since then.
I was going to dye using the fresh leaves this month.


ところが、
見るも無残な姿😖😖
茎と
萎れた葉っぱだけに・・・
雨が多かったんで、
水やりの必要もなかったはず・・
なんで～？？
よくみると、
なんだか白いものがいっぱい
緑の小さな虫が
いっぱい、いっぱい、ついてる・・・😖😖
虫が嫌う藍なのに～.
😱😱😱😱😱😱

Unfortunately,
my indigo plants were only stems and dying leaves.
It was the rainy season, so I didn't worry about watering them.
So, why?

I took a look carefully,
and I found so many tiny green insects on the underside of the leaves.
I thought insects hated indigo plant.

どうしたらいいのか　わからなかったけれど、
まず根元からカット。
それから、
自然に退治するために、
牛乳スプレーをつくって
駆除！
そのあと、水で牛乳を洗い流しました。
しばらく様子を見てみます。😢

I didn't know what to do, but anyway
I cut the plant from the part near the root.
Then,
I sprayed milk to the insects and rinsed the plant with water later.
I'll wait  and see what is going to happen next.
